High Park, by Grenadier Pond / Toronto, ON

Built entirely of steel, this pavilion near Grenadier Pond in High Park keeps in mind the natural textures, shapes, and objects around it. Inspired by delicate cobwebs and flower blooms, steel mesh panels are framed by “petals” framing a central column.

Grenadier aims to provide a non-intrusive addition to the park’s natural scenery. It challenges conventional identities given to steel: industry, urbanism, and unnaturalness.
